There?s something really fun and futuristic about cars with phone connectivity. Having smart features in your vehicle is both entertaining and useful but they require some software to get things moving. Android Auto is Google?s one-stop for connecting your Android device to a compatible car. It?s free to use so there?s nothing to lose by trying these features out.
Take Your Apps for a Drive
Android Auto is a pretty simple program performing one key function letting you display your apps on the screen in your car. Connecting should be straightforward provided you have a phone running Android version 5.0 or better. You can get started just by plugging in via USB. Not all apps can be moved over to the car screen sadly just a few key Google apps such as search maps and music. Still they work nicely and with the touch screen at hand it?s easy to play music or check maps. Maps in fact are the most useful aspect of this app optimised for viewing at a glance.
A Useful App but Needs More
Android Auto is a very handy app which allows connectivity and introduces new features to your car. On the downside it?s pretty basic in functionality (in fact previous versions had more options). Given that it?s free this is understandable but there?s definitely room to improve.
